KAZ Vineyards and Winery is a tiny winery, making just 2-3,000 cases of wine annually. Noted for his irreverence, Kaz has made his winery into an island of fun in a sea of overly serious and sometimes pretentious wineries. Kaz is just this side of wacky (or, some days, just THAT side). Just off Highway 12 on Adobe Canyon Road in Sonoma Valley, Kaz is only open Friday through Monday.

A visit to Kaz Vineyards and Winery feels like what it must have been like to taste wine 20 years ago-extra rustic, with the grower/winemaker or his family pouring the samples. Winemaker Kaz, who's almost always present, is friendly and like to shoot the breeze with customers. Kaz is a blender, making whimsical mixes like Barbera and Tannat (hardly ever bottled on its own in California), and Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc. Try Kaz's line of food products too, like vinegars and chocolate port sauce. Super casual with great views.
